CDI Head Start Serving Chilton, Autauga, Shelby and Elmore Counties, AL is looking to fill the following positions:

Teacher Preschool (Jemison, AL) – $12.31 hourly AA

                                                           $14.36 hourly BA

This position serves as the lead worker in a classroom of Head Start children by planning, implementing, and supervising all classroom activities. This position works with typically developing children and children with disabilities. This position also serves as a social service referral person and shares responsibility for parent involvement in the program. The position may be reassigned to various classrooms/centers as deemed necessary for program operations. Minimum requirement is an AA in a field related to Early Childhood Education and coursework equivalent to a major relating to ECE with at least 500 clock hours of experience in an Early Childhood setting teaching preschool age children. Bilingual preferred.

Teacher Infant Toddler (Calera, AL, Columbiana, AL, Wetumpka, AL, Clanton, AL)-$10.26 hourly CDA

                                                                                                                                             $12.31 hourly AA

                                                                                                                                             $14.36 hourly BA

This position serves as a teacher (aka caregiver) in a classroom of Early Head Start infants and toddlers by planning, implementing, and supervising all center-based activities. This position may work with infants and toddlers with developmental delays.  Because this position is one part of a large system of services provided to infants/toddlers and families, this position also serves as a social service referral person and shares responsibility for parent involvement in the program. Minimum requirement is a current Child Development Associate (CDA) with infant/toddler endorsement and have been trained or have equivalent coursework* in age appropriate early childhood and child development with a focus on infant/toddler development.  An Associates’ or Bachelors’ degree in early childhood education, child development, family studies, home economics or child care that focuses on infant and toddler development and care or degree in any field with coursework** equivalent to   CDA credential subject areas and training specific to infant and toddler development is also acceptable.

Assistant Teacher (Jemison, AL, Millbrook, AL, & Clanton, AL) – $8.72 Hourly HS/GED

                                                                                                              $9.23 Hourly CDA

                                                                                                              $10.26 Hourly AA or higher

This position works as part of a teaching team to work as a partner with the teacher in developing activities for preschool Head Start children to provide them with varied experiences and an appropriate learning environment. Works with typically developing children and children with disabilities. Assistance is given to the teacher in carrying out the goals, policies, and activities designed to implement educational objectives and performance standards. The position may be reassigned to various classrooms/centers as deemed necessary for program operations. Minimum requirement is one of the following:

  1. A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential;
  2. Be enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of being hired into the position;
  3. An associate or baccalaureate degree (in any area); or be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree. Bilingual preferred.

 Program Aide (Wetumpka, AL, Autaugaville, AL, Calera, AL, Columbiana, AL, Clanton, AL , Jemison, AL)- $8.21 Hourly HS/GED

 This position works as a part of a team to assist in activities in the areas of the classroom, kitchen and bus and/or to serve as a disabilities aide as needed. The position contains elements of job descriptions of positions with titles similar classroom aide, janitor, and kitchen aide and as a disabilities aide providing support for children with disabilities.  Works with typically developing children and/or children with special needs/disabilities.   The position may be reassigned to various classrooms/centers/bus routes as deemed necessary for program operations.  This

position may receive content area technical support and training from the staff person responsible for center supervision, teacher, kitchen staff and/or program managers/specialist/coordinators. The minimum requirement is a HS Diploma or GED. Some states may require additional requirements for kitchen aide duties (i.e., kitchen permit). Bilingual preferred.

 Cook (Alabaster, AL, Calera, AL, Columbiana, AL, Jemison, AL)-$8.21 Hourly HS/GED

This position is one role in a large system of services provided to children and families.  A strong food service program is important to supporting the goals of the program.  This position is responsible for the ordering, preparing, serving and documenting of meals and snacks.  It includes following menus and all phases of kitchen operations including inventory control.  The position contributes to the smooth operations and functioning of the kitchen in adherence to health and food safety codes and the strict cleanliness of the kitchen and food service and storage areas.  The position may prepare foods for infants and toddlers and/or preschool children following the USDA/CACFP standards.  Position may involve reassignment to various kitchens/centers as deemed necessary for program operations. The minimum requirement is a HS Diploma or GED and has food preparation experience and be able to comply with any state food permit/health requirements.

Bus Driver On-Call (All areas)- $14.36 hourly HS/GED

This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transport of children and parents/families on field trips and helping to keep the vehicle clean and in safe operating conditions at all times. The minimum requirement is high school diploma or GED and a current in-state Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a School Bus and/or Passenger endorsement and/or other criteria specifically required by the state.
