Future Forward Award Reception

The Future Forward Award Reception will recognize the impacts of COVID to Birmingham’s small business community. The event will spotlight winners of the sixth Future Forward Grant Cycle and provide opportunities to learn of more available resources.
The Penny Foundation, in partnersip with the Birmingham City Council will award grants to businesses located in Districts 1, 5, 6, 7, and 9. Councilor Crystal N. Smitherman, Councilor LaTonya A. Tate, Councilor Wardine T. Alexander, Councilor Clinton Woods and Councilor Darrell O’Quinn contributed $27,500 from their offices’ American Rescue Plan Act Funding so that the Penny Foundation can disperse more than 11 business grants per district.
The initiative is aimed to assist small businesses respond to the negative impacts of COVID-19. Proposed use of the grant include: portion of costs to retain employees mortgage, rent, utilities, design services for future building improvements and developments, as well as business capacity building-adaptation, and other operating costs.
The event is open to the public; however, registration is required.
