Montgomery, AL – October 2025 – Each October, communities across Alabama and the nation unite to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time to honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and promote lifesaving education, early detection, and research.
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women, but when detected early, survival rates improve significantly. That’s why Community Action Agencies across Alabama are committed to raising awareness and connecting families with essential health resources. From free or low-cost screening programs to education on prevention and support services, agencies are working to make sure no one faces this disease alone.
“Health equity is at the heart of Community Action. Breast cancer doesn’t just impact individuals—it impacts entire families and communities. Our mission is to ensure that every woman, regardless of income or access, has the opportunity for early detection and care,” said a representative at CAAA.
Throughout the month, agencies and partners will host community events, share educational resources, and highlight stories of hope and resilience. These efforts align with the national movement to empower women and families to take charge of their health.
