As summer temperatures rise, so do the risks for vulnerable families and individuals. Starting July 10, low-income residents in Middle Georgia can apply for cooling assistance to help manage energy bills and stay safe during the hottest months of the year.
This program is designed to provide financial relief for qualifying households facing high electricity costs due to increased air conditioning use. Assistance is made available through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and is administered locally by participating Community Action Agencies.
Eligibility is based on household income and priority is given to:
-
Seniors (60+)
-
Households with young children
-
Individuals with medical conditions exacerbated by extreme heat
Residents must schedule an appointment to apply. Appointments open Wednesday, July 10 and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
📞 Contact your local Community Action Agency or visit [Insert local agency website or contact portal] to book your appointment.
Stay cool. Stay safe. Let Community Action help you beat the heat.
